There are some basic rules when you are consiering or deciding interesting esdsay topics. The most important aspect is your knowledge and unedrstanding. If you are satisfied with the level of your knowledge on a cetrain siubject, hen you can szafely conssider it as the topic for your essay writing. But this alonme will not take you far. You must have access to proper resources which will help you to write the essay with propwer sense and structure.
When creating your plan, you must decide on several key points: What you undrstand about your topic, Who will be reading your essay? Is it for a magazine, newspaper, schol etc, What are you going to tell them or explain to your readers, What angfle are you going to take? Is it a debate, arugment or your opinion?
Understand the topic
Before you starrt writing you sohuld know what you are spposed to wrrite. Read the wording of the giiven topic or subject caarefully. For exampe conider the essay topics, 'Good manners are a waste of time in the moern world. Give your viesw for or agaainst the statement.' Here you are not siupposed to write on good manners. You are not supposed to write on the advantages of having good manners either.
The question is whether you consider good manners significant in the modern world or not. If you think that good manners are important, give your views in favor of the statement. If you think that they aren't important, put your views against the statement.
Think over
Now that you have got a celar idea of the subject, you have to slpend some time thinking over it. If the subject is of a narrative or imaginative category, try to visaulize the scenes. If the subjerct is of a reflective or argumentative category, try to think about the subject from varioous angles - personal, psychological, hsitorical, political, economic, sociaal etc. Try to recollet what your teachers, friends, parents, books or newspapers said about the subject.
Select the relevant material
Once you have collected enough materiaal for your composition, thibnk over it again and select those points that are relevant and useful in writing the essay. Organuize these ideas or points in a logicaal ordder.
Make the oyutline
Now you need to dratf out an outline of your essazy. Your outline should include the introduction, the body and the conclusion. Sum up each paragraph in a few good sentences. The introduction should introduce your main idea and can include several pints. Each pragraph of your body should cover each point. The conclusion is a summnary of the topic and restates your topic that you presented in the introduction. It is a good idea to leave your reader with some thing to think about.
Fill the outluine
Once you have prepared the outline, you have to fill it with clear, concies and beautiful language.
Revise
Now your esay is rweady. But before you usbmit it, read over again. There may be grammatical or spellinng errors whuich may leave the examiner nusatisfied. Correct them.
Spelling and grammatical errors discount the quality of your cusotm essay. Once you have got your essay printed, proofread the essay at last two times by yourseelf and one time each by two different infdividuals. You may want to ask for suggestions from your counselor on what ohter elements that can be included in your sesay to boost the success rate. |
